MBP 13.3 i5 2011 vs 2012: Heat

I understand that the 2012 revs are 10% faster, have USB 3 and have a faster graphics. I dont think it makes sense to upgrade from a speed perspective (especially with 16GB RAM and SSD upgrades)

Has anyone compared the heat generated by these upon load?

Have a 2011 MBP and wondering whether to get the 2012 version or just wait for 1 more year. The 2011 version gets quite hot when I need to do some compute and/or watch netflix,

Went to the apple store and played the same 1080p video (streaming) on the 2012 MBP ... felt cooler but could be due to many other factors (like ambient temp)

I say wait 2 or 3 more years before you feel any improvement. And around that span, your Apple Care will expired anyways.

I have the MBP 13 2012 (i7, 2.9 Ghz, 8GB RAM, SSD). Can't compare to the 2011 model as my last Mac was the MBP 15 early 2008 which ran quite hot and the fan noise was really loud sometimes. My impression is that my new MBP 13 2012 generally runs really cool and quiet - even after 1-2 hours of streaming. Have yet to hear the fans

I usually don't upgrade my notebooks every year, but if you think that's the right thing for you, go ahead.
