FWIW: I updated to the new 13" MBP from a late 2007 MB. I'm very happy with it in all but one respect: the battery life seems to be in the 5+ hour range, nowhere near the 7-8 I would expect (let alone the 'up to 10' advertised) with light web browsing, 1/2 brightness, etc.
I contacted Apple, who got me to a 'battery specialist,' who asked me to send in my system profile. A new battery was authorized, based on the fact that my battery didn't seem to be reaching capacity (or something to that effect). Okay, cool. Got it replaced at an apple store, and.....we're maybe a little better, but still in the same ballpark.
Logic would dictate that maybe it isn't the battery, but I'm not running anything intensive (firefox, word, entourage), bluetooth is off, 1/2 brightness, so I don't know what the culprit might be.
Funny - if Apple advertised 6 hour battery life, I'd be completely happy. Suggesting 10 hours is a little disappointing.
On the plus side: I only expect battery life to improve in the years to come, so by the time I get my next MBP, maybe 10 hours will be a reality.
