Is it just me, or have the prices risen in the UK with the latest Macbook Pros?

I'm all for the new MBPs- they look great, but just interested in if I have got my maths correct r.e. the prices

Thanks

To do a fair comparison you must first remove the VAT from the UK price:

2.26GHz model = £764.10 = $1225.85 vs USA price: $1199
2.53GHz model = £976.60 = $1566.76 vs USA price: $1499

Not a massive mark up really.

The old 13" uMB started at £929 so £899 is fair, as too is £1,299 for the 15" when it was £1,369. We didn't get treated too badly. I know they went down loads in US, but given the crumbling exchange rate after a massive high, it could've been a lot worse.

You have to figure sales tax, which is different for each state and some don't even have sales tax at all.

In New York it would be $1199 * 1.08625 = $1302.41 or $1499 * 1.08625 = $1628.29

It's fairer to compare without sales tax as it can vary from place to place. See my post above for the comparison figures.

^I saw that, I was just merely giving an example of how it could be higher here that's all :)

Yes, you are right. Unless you are in the right place then it is unlikely that you can get a MacBook Pro for the prices advertised on Apple's US website.

Wikipedia has a handy guide to sales tax here in the US.

Delaware and New Hampshire would be able to procure an MBP for the advertised price.
