Hello.

So i was thinking about fixing this MBP for my parents since it's pretty slow right now and heavy.

The question i'm really interested to know if anybody here has been able to get some weight of ur macbook pro? Since it got HDD i was thinking switching to SSD would take a little bit weight off. Does the DVD reader weigh anything?

Is there any battery out there that's not original and weight less? (maybe cheaper too :d )

Is there any other possible way to loose some weight so it goes down to about 2kg? (it's 2.5kg from start)

Not sure about lighter, but rest assured that switching from HDD to SSD you will see a massive improvement.

And yes, of course, a bit less weight.

Been trying to find any threads about it in the world wide web, but none seem to fit my demand. Guess it's impossible to lower the weight that much :/

What i could find the superdive is about 0.200~g and replacing the harddrive with SSD should be like 0.100g-0.200g~?
