MBP 15" i7 HRAG Display Issues

My aunt recently received her 15" i7 with an anti-glare display. She is having an issue where the refresh rate on the screen seems to be extremely high. For example, if she opens the display menu in system preferences, it will show 1x1 and then refresh and show the whole list and then refresh and show 1x1, and will continue to repeat this processes? Is anyone out there having the same issue? She is currently without internet and is more than 2 hours away from the nearest Apple Store, so I'd like to get a prognosis for her before having her trek to the Genius Bar...
