I am not unhappy with the computer so I am contemplating buying an external monitor for it. I can't find any 2560 by 1600 pixels external displays. Do you have a recommendation for an external monitor?

I use the MBP for photo editing with Lightroom and Photoshop.

I have been also contemplating switching to an iPad Pro and do away with the MBP all together. What are your thoughts on that?

Thank you much
David

After many years with a MBPro, I got so tired of the problems I went back to a Thinkpad workstation with a xeon processor. It does Photo Shop and AutoCAD very well.

Somewhere Apple took a wrong turn for me. The way I see it we all had to make a lot of compromises for Apple's obsession with thin!

My 2008 MBP 17 display died last summer. Yes, I can hook it up to an external display but I have 2014 and 2015 MBPs running High Sierra (will upgrade to Mojave soon) and they are fantastic supporting QHD and 4K displays. I'd suggest upgrading to 2014 or 2015 models if you can spare $1000 - $1500.

Thanks for the replies... still looking for a monitor.
Are you sure that it's the actual display and not the GPU that's failed? Graphics failures were common with these models, and if that's what's happened, an external display won't work either.

The GPU seems to be fine since I am typing this reply using an external TV.
