Have the option of buying either at $1400. Would be purchased from original, mature owner.

Late 2011 - 2.2.Ghz - High Res glossy display - Applecare through Dec 2015 - battery cycle count 142 - comes with hard shell case and apple remote.

Mid 2012 - 2.3 all stock - battery cycle count 45.

Any advice? Just now looking at the two, seems I should probably be going with the 2011?

Buying tomorrow -- any thought much appreciated!

If the higher res screen, applecare and extras are more important than usb3, better video cards, faster and more energy efficient CPU, then yes. If not, then no.

But, unless you have a specific, discernible need for one or some of the features of the 2012, I'd personally go with the 2011. Chances are that screen aside, you'd probably not be able to tell a difference between the two machines in everyday use.

Either one sounds like a pretty darned good deal for the money.

Don't buy old tech. It's too old. Always go with the latest model you can since it will last longer overall.

if it were me, i'd choose the 2011.
