My old Sager is dying, i want to try out a MBP maybe. My question is, will i find the power to be comparable?? I do music production, half audio half midi, thats my labor intensive work. I need it to at least be comparable to the old sager. The MBPr indicated is about what i can afford in this moment, it could be the 2.8 but i see those much less around here

The machines in question:
Apple MacBook Pro 2015 15" 2.4GHz i7 16GB RAM 1TB SSD
---- VS ----
Sager NP8268s 15.6" Full HD (1920 x 1080) LED-Backlit Intel Core i7-4810MQ Quad 2.8 GHz nVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M w/6GB GDDR5 8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600Mz (1 x 8GB) 120GB Samsung 850EVO mSATA SSD

I have a 2015 rMBP - its a great product (IMHO) and I use it for audio and some video and it works well for my (non-professional) use - Great lap top and one of the last rMBP's that you can replace/upgrade the SSD - the rMBP you are looking at is already maxed out @ 16g RAM and has a 1TB SSD so that is good 👍

The battery might be something to consider - I had to replace the battery about 6 months ago - you can check the cycle count on the batter - anything over 800 and it is probably due for a battery replacement - not a big deal I bought a battery on Amazon ($100) and replaced it myself.

If you have special software - you might want to check and find out what macOS will be best to set it up with - my guess would be Mojave for most Music production software - also you may have to re-purchase any special windows versions of software = more $$.

There is another MacRumors Digital Audio Section at this link - Digital Audio audio-oriented apps and techniques - where you might get answers to questions about specific Audio and Music production
