Hi.

Im very new to osx so excuse my stupidity*

*Ive had a mbp 15" for quite awhile but the battery was buggered so on monday i ordered a new one and it arrived yesterday. I put it in and everything was fine . I then decided to do a software update it was just over 1gb.*

This is where the problems started.*

If i shut the lid to hibernate it, then reopen, it takes about 20 mins to come on, it shows the the grey/white screen with apple logo and a progress bar which as i said above takes 20 mins to fill up. If i shutdown and restart it does the same.

My battery shows a big X in osx. During the long boot the mag charger light turns to orange which i assume means the battery is charging, but doesnt show as charging when osx finally comes on. If i shut the lid the light goes to green. If i try to start it without the charger in it does nothing.

It was fine before the update, its on osx 10.6.8*

Anyone have any ideas or anything?help!!!!*

Thanks*
