Hi there,

I'm trying to rebuild a scrapped MBP 15 Retina Early 2013.
For that I need a new HDD as the previous owner took the existing out.

Will I be served good with an Samsung 850 Pro(And an adapter ofc) or would you advice me to get the original flash drive?

Thanks!

1) Retina MacBook Pros don't and can't use HDDs.
2) Samsung 850 Pro is a 2.5" SATA SSD, which won't physically fit inside the machine. You need the right form factor manufactured specifically for your model. You can get an original part on Ebay, or there are third party options available from OWC and Transcend.

Hi JTToft,

1.) By saying HDD's I mean harddisks in general, I still see an SSD as an harddisk.
2.) Sorry I meant the 850 EVO, which comes in an mSata edition(Where the adapter comes in play, mSATA 52Pin Solid State Drive To 18+8Pin)

HDD implies an actual spinning disk.

I don't believe you'll have room to fit an adapter. You can try it, but most likely you'll have to get an OEM drive or one of the 3rd party ones mentioned previously.
