Hi All

I'm looking to work on Final Cut Pro for YouTube videos mainly but in the future be able to edit in 4K. I was wondering does FCX have a large dependancy on RAM? I want to future proof myself as the MBP16 is alot of money ... (maybe I can even get away with MBP2020 high spec?)

32GB of RAM would be a better choice all around - not just for FCPX, but for imaging editing programs like Lr and Photoshop as well

Now I've mostly edited 1080p, but a little 4K as well. But my longest project was around an hour of 1080p, with colour correction, subtitles (with all the subtitles made with title overlays because it was before subtitle support and I didn't have a plugin for it), and lots of other stuff.
Never felt limited by memory. Have had both 16GB and 32GB in the iMac I used for it, and it didn't feel any different to edit video between the two setups. RAM can matter, and it may matter more in the future, but for what I did, it didn't make that big a difference in Final Cut, but other programs are different.
GPU will make the biggest difference, really

My Mac Pro uses 40+ gigs of RAM (out of 48 available) easily with 1080p projects, so 32GB would be recommended.
