I've seen several post on the fan speeds of the new MBP 16". Most seem to be related to external monitors.
I just received my MBP yesterday. Base model with upgraded 32GB Ram.
Installed from Time Machine backup from my previous 2010 iMac running High Sierra.
I first noticed the fans blasting away when I was cataloging some photos on ON1 Photo Raw. Program similar to Lightroom for those that may not be familiar.
This really was not a CPU intensive task. It might have spiked very briefly but only for a second or so. However, the CPU temp would raise and the fans would blast away.
I next tested it by simply opening Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Once again fans at full blast. Not even a document open, simply by opening the three programs it caused the fans to ramp up. They stay ramped up for a good minute or so.
I fully understand if I was doing some heavy CPU / GPU work the fans would need to move some air. The fans going full blast by simply opening a few programs to idle seems a bit ridiculous.
This happens whether I'm connected to an external monitor or not.
The only other device connected was a usb-C external HDD.
OS is up to date as well as all software.
I might first try to start fresh without installing from Time Machine.
If that does not work and it's just the nature of the beast, might be returning and going back to an iMac.
Thanks for any help!
