2019 MBP 16" - Regardless of the version of MacOS I have had installed on this device, on several occasions the screen fails to wake after it has been sleeping. This usually happens when I disconnect it from my LG UltraFine 24" display which is connected via USB-C (power and video/audio). What happens is I open the display lid, the Touch ID controls will light up and are functioning (I can hear the volume level changing, etc). Not sure what you call it, but I think the "backlight" or something else is wrong. You can see the faint blue/blackish tint of the screen, just no icons or interface. A force shutdown and the startup always resolves it, but I don't like doing that for fear of software corruption. Is this a full logic board replacement or something?

I suspect not. I believe its just not making the connection that it needs to witch back to the mac. Maybe if you allowed both displays to work at once. Since the MBP display is off, when you take away the LG, the mac doesn’t turn on the display unless you tell it to. Can you open the mac BEFORE you disconnect the LG?

Thanks, yeah disconnecting when display is open usually prevents this. Buy I’m over it as I just replaced it with a new 14”.
