Hello everyone.

I picked up my new MBP 16" a few days ago: 2.4 GHz i9, 32 GB Ram, 8GB AMD Radeon Pro 5500M, 2 TB.

I'm using a tool to monitor the battery health and there seems to be a pretty fast decrease of its maximum capacity.

At the moment I'm at 96% after only 8 charging cycles. Is this normal or do I need to have this checked by Apple?

Is someone experience something similar?
Edit: So far, I've been using it almost exclusively for web browsing so nothing heavy on either CPU or GPU.

Thanks in advance, freaking out a little bit :/

Your battery health is variable. It has dropped 1% (97% on 12-30, now 96% today about 1 week later)
The health number will vary from day to day, maybe dropping a few points, then back up a bit.
That's pretty normal. If you need to micro-manage your battery life, then you may need a longer sample time, perhaps over several months, to give you better information about your battery's life.
If you only use the last week, that trend is up, not down. I can predict that upward trend will not continue, but it also illustrates what I mean: short-term measurement is not worth too much, when you want to forecast the health of your battery.
You have no way to realistically predict if or when your battery will drop below that "magic" 80% health. If that happens within the first 12 months, then you will likely be able to get your battery replaced under warranty, eh?

thank you, DeltaMac!

i do have apple care. so i can replace it after a few months, too if the capacity continues to go down steadily. don't want to, but want to make sure the battery is fine/normal.

just wanted to give a brief update. after a few weeks/months of usage it has settled and is all good now. the maximum capacity is at 97% after 36 charging cycles.

overall very happy with the machine!
