Hey guys
I am considering to order a MBP 16 with i9 2.3, 32GB, 1TB, 5500 4GB in the next few days.
The only thing that currently is a bit making me feel uneasy is whether there will be a spec bump for the 16" model. To my knowledge this is not usual to have a spec bump within a year. However, as I come from a MBP 2016 which was released late 2016, I know there was a spec bump already mid 2017... so, it does happen.
We all have no crystal ball... but, just in case, there would be a spec bump... what could that be? I assume new processors (ice lake?) are unlikely, or? A price reduction maybe even more unrealistic. Any chance or new dGPU - not sure if there is any available which would fit though...
Thanks for your thoughts.

Not sure, but they do got RDNA2 GPUs coming alongside Ice Lake so there's that.

If you need the laptop buy it now, I'm quite happy with my base model. I didn't went for the i9 because the 2 additional cores wouldn't do me any good since I usually work from Citrix and Lightroom/Photoshop/Final Cut work just fine for me as it is.

10th gen Comet Lake-H processors are launching in April. They would be suitable upgrades for the current 9th gen CPU. We might see a minor spec bump with them within the next few months. But, they're still 14nm and have very minor improvements over 9th gen. You may get LPDDRX RAM with them though.

I mean, probably not in the next few days, but I‘m sure we‘ll see some spec bump until July.

Anyone else have an opinion about this? Think we're seeing spec bumps soon or not until the fall?

With how things are, it seems like the 13/14" is the next in line.

We also waiting for the new comet lake CPUs alongside RDNA2 from AMD as well? Sounds like fall 2020 tbh

I haven’t seen much evidence of mobile RDNA 2 GPUs, I would be surprised if we saw anything other than a minor refresh of the 5000 series four a while.

AMD said it would come to across all the GPUs in their earning call... So there's that, I don't know.
