i started out at 100% charge. did some web surfing checked email and download a few photos in lightroom .... all in all was about 30min ... battery life is down to 49% .... just wanted to see if anyone else seeing an low battery life before i call apple and start complaining ....
 
Did you calibrate?

Lightroom is CPU intensive, even if one does not recognize it.
The webpages might have some Flash content in them.

Have you taken a look at the health and cycles of the battery?

Have you used MRoogle to read any of the dozens of other threads about battery life, which might be already four days old, but who knows.
 
I had mine running for calibration today. I got about 7 hours of screen full bright with web surfing and itunes playing.

I want to but simply can not believe this figure. I have done the same thing and gotten 4.5. If you did get 7, please do let us know the secret! I too use full brightness b/c of the glossy glass. The mbp's battery life absolutely is better watt for watt than anything out there, but they are still required to follow my 0.6 rule: multiply the claimed battery life by 0.6 and you will have the true battery life in real-world use.
