Recently bought MBP but there was slight damage to aluminum case--small chip--so apple replaced the top case, which I am told in the unibody means the keyboard, trackpad, etc. Everything functions, except now when I use tap to click, unlike before, the trackpad doesn't feel as tight, so it gives a little and makes an irritating noise, like a loose click when tapping gently. I
I called AppleStore in Paris where it was repaired and they told me to immediately bring it in because is easily and quickly adjustable. Unfortunately, while they quickly took it into the working area and within 5 or 10 came out with it and we all noticed that they had scratched the screen case up in their haste-- now they have ordered a new screen.
This loose feeling on the trackpad is mostly on the right mid and lower areas, not on top or to the left side.
Can this be adjusted as they claimed. I think when I brought it in they were very busy and did a quick job, in 5 or 10 minutes, and ended up damaging the screen. Has anyone had their trackpad adjusted or tightened up?
My wife has the same computer and with tap to click there is no give or any "clicking" noise when you gently tap; nor was this there on the top case they replaced. Hopefully this can be adjusted because it really changes the ease and pleasure of quietly using the trackpad. If it is really adjustable, I could insist that they try again with it while replacing the screen. But if not, I don't want further damage. I will be going to Prague for a few weeks but screen will be replaced in Paris on my return. I could give Apple folks in Prague the chance to adjust this if it really is simple. I know the repair people there and they might be more cautious and effective--that is if it really is adjustable tension wise.
Thanks for any thoughts.
