I just ordered a MacBook Pro 17" with the optional 500GB 7200 rpm HDD. I have been reading that many people have been having problems with this hard drive. This seems to be related to a batch of MBPs produced in June of this year.
Would anyone happen to know if this problem is still happening with today's production batches? Has Apple fixed this problem? Basically, if I just ordered a MBP with this 7200 HDD, should I be worried about it? I did see where they released a fix for the June batch but I'm hoping this has been resolved in the newer batches.
UPDATE: I called Apple a few minutes ago and expressed my concern over their 7200 HDDs and a systems engineer assured me that they have fixed the issue by making hardware as well as software updates to their production line. I definitely feel better about my purchase.
