Hi,

Have had a hunt about on the forums but I couldn't find a straight answer.

My 2.33 C2D macbook pro has blotches all over the display and I want to replace it. Can I upgrade to a 1900x1200 version? And has anyone sourced a display (1900x1200 or 1680x1050) for a reasonable sum in the UK recently?

Cheers

There are displays that you can buy on ebay and that will match on your 2.33Ghz mbp, but you would have to install it yourself.

I think there is a 1920x1200 upgrade thread or something somewhere on these forums but it started way back since the powerbook days.

You wont be able to install the led backlit of the 1920x1200 but you can with the ccfl backlit versions.

Cool, thanks. Not too worried about doing the work myself, but if I'm going to do something that fiddly, I may as well install the best I can.

Cheers

You could just buy the display for the LED 17" for $850 and just install it...

So back to my original question then.. (sort of)

Can I install the LED 1900x1200 onto this model of Macbook Pro? (assuming I want to spend $850)

CCFL and LED Apple panels are different...assuming you plan on using one from a MBP LED 17"

1. LVDS cable is different. (LED backlight power incorporated into the cable)
2. iSight cable is different.
3. You will need the LED "Driver board"
