I am getting ready to pull a trigger. I want HiRes MBP 17 and the only thing I don't know is: is 2.6 so much faster that it justifies $250 higher price tag?

IT realy depends on what your doing with the system. For everyday things such as surfing the net, listening to iTunes or messing about with iApps, very little will be seen in terms of a boost.

Load in Maya, Motion or FCP and it'll be slightly quicker, for large project you could be saving a couple of mins crunching time.

Basically I put it down to this. If your not using the system to earn money, save yourself a buck or two and go for the cheaper one but if it's your bread and butter earner, go for the speedier 2.6.

I have had both and now have a newer spec 2.5 and it is a second or two sower, so not worth it.
