MBP 2.0 core duo issue

We have a 4 year old mbp and recently, it has started to beachball/freeze like crazy

It used to make a bad sound that for the most part, went away with a new hdd installed but it still likes to freeze alot

We have had the logic board replaced a few years back as well

Any idea on why it would be freezing? Would a reinstall of OSX fix anything?

Could be RAM as well. Try running the Apple Hardware Test and the usual SMC and PRAM reset along with permission repair and disk verification with Disk Utility.
