Can anyone tell me the capacity of the battery in the MBP 2010 15" model? I'm on my third battery right now (this time a non-Apple brand) and the capacity is only 6200mAh. I was expecting 7000, but it was only $35, so I guess I can't complain too much. My old battery was so swollen it was causing the trackpad to pop out, but I forgot to check coconutbattery's "original design capacity" for that Apple-branded battery anyhow. I'm guessing it was 6500 or 6800? Thanks

V * A = W

77.5Wh / 10.95V = 7.078Ah or 7078mAh.

Someone can come and tell me if I'm wrong here, but I don't think the hours part of the measurement affects the numbers at all.

That is what I thought. But this new battery I got claims 10.95V and 77.5Wh, but coconutbattery is saying the capacity is 6200mAh

77.5 / 10.95 X 1000 = 7,077

Thank you. When you open coconutbattery or system profiler does it say 7000mAh design capacity? My battery also says 10.95V and 77.5Wh, but capacity is only 6200
6900 is the actual design capacity of the standard battery. It'll never be the full 7077

Ok, so 6200 is indeed a bad battery then. Thank you

At $35 I'd be more worried about it exploding or catching fire cheap knock off batteries are notoriously rubbish and possibly dangerous.

If its an original apple battery bought on the cheap it's probably years old.

I suppose so. It is indeed a cheap knock-off. In a few weeks this is no longer going to be my main computer, though. I was just looking to extend the life a tiny bit. Will be getting a new MBP within the coming years. Building a desktop in the next couple weeks.
