This is weird. We know the password. It's not my computer but I set it up.

I can probably get access via apple ID but here are the weird parts.

1) Two people know the password. So we know what it is.
2) The log in screen is not illuminating the backlit LED (so hard to see the screen)
3) The loading bar is appearing over the "enter password" screen at times.
4.1) Reset password screen: Correct password is not working
4.2) Reset Password boot & screen: illuminates the LCD LED back panel no problem.

First I thought the LED had fried or something but no. It's as if the boot up is corrupted. Is this a strange (but known bug) or has the password been corrupted or something else?

I've been in this situation with a few other mac and never seen this strange behaviour. Any ideas?
[doublepost=1467323138][/doublepost]Ok, updated. The machine has been unlocked using apple_id recovery. Thankfully!

The user experienced a heavily dimmed or minus backlight at the user LOGIN point, the LCD was so dimmed (faint) that the original user didn't see what was going on and turned the machine on and off a few times, as it seemed as if the screen was dead even though the mac was powering up. This has happened before on a close case, when opening the screen does not activate and the only thing that will solve that is a hard reset, but in this instance that is not what occurred. So the users behaviour caused the system locked down and bot into password RESET when I got to the machine to investigate.

I was just about able to see the screen and click the right icons etc. etc. to navigate.

This has to be a bug!

he original password which was being detected as incorrect causing the lockout, was actually able to unlock the keychain once we were in with access under the new reset password.

I also forgot to state, latest version of El Capitan.
