Hi, today my MBP 2010 17" behaved strangly several times. For example, it lost 50% of battery life in about 30 minutes (some web browsing, some emailing, small amount of youtube video watching). Once it reached 13-15%, it suddenly jumped to 1% and the machine turned itself off. Does that mean it is going to die soon?

Sudden jumping of battery % usually means it is time for a new battery. You can get Coconut Battery to check battery health, but I doubt it will show anything different.

Yep, all classic symptons of dead/bad cells in battery pack. Which is pretty unsurprising for the age and generation of battery.

8 years is a fantastic lifespan for a battery. But it is time for a new battery or a new system.

Yes, such long lasting is quite good. I wonder if the 2016-2018 MBPs can last that long. I am going to wait for the MS event on Oct 2 and then place an order.
