Hi,

Does anyone have this problem: my MBP (2011 model) makes a very slight, but annoying non-constant whistling noise (sound a bit like someone blowing into an empty bottle). I am guessing it's the left fan that's making this noise (?)

see you,
chris.

EDIT: I also noticed that my backlight has two dark stripes around the areas of the middle of the screen and the left-hand end of the keyboard, which get more pronounced when the discr. graphics card is used :(

Either. Mine will "whistle" when I'm using* Ethernet or Wi-Fi, and I've found other people with the same issue. I'm not sure how widespread it is.

*Decent usage. Looking at a website doesn't do it, but copying a file does.

I am not sure, in which conditions does yours not make the noise?
I tried turning WiFi off, but the noise is still there. :(

Any idea what it could be? A faulty fan possibly, no?
