I have a Macbook Pro mid-2012 (I upgraded RAM and SSD and it has worked to perfection).

Recently, I couldn't get it to start. I realised it was the power button and keyboard that didn't function. So I changed the keyboard.

Now the power button works, but the keyboard still doesn't. And worse: The computer is running EXTREMELY slow (booting takes 5-10 minutes) and the fan is at full speed all the time.

I don't know how to run diagnostics, reset SMC etc. when the keyboard doesn't function at all. And since the new keyboard doesn't work, I am afraid it is the logic board that's done.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I could try to save my beloved MBP?

Is a battery detected in macOS?
Interesting question! Now that you ask, I notice that there is no battery indicator in the top bar. I don't know if there's any other way to tell if MacOS has detected a battery? It does however run on battery power right now.

If macOS does not detect a battery, check power under system report. If no battery is detected or battery stats are not available, the OS will throttle the CPU at all times.
