Hi Guys

I've a MBP late 2012 and it spends most of it's time in clam shell mode connect to external monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Recently when running a few applications it becomes very laggy and the mouse pointer has major lag... Batteries are fully charged etc.

My MBP have 16gb Ram and 256 SSD, my apple warranty runs out this month and I don't know whether the problem I'm having is hardware and whether I need to take it back to local apple store.

Any help gratefully received :)

1. what monitor are you using?
2. did you monitor the temperatures?
3. download gfxcardstatus and take a look if the dgpu is on (which it should be in clam shell mode with an external display)

Using the Dell U2410 and the temps are normally in the low 50's degrees C

which mouse are you using? magic mouse?
you could try to reset smc and also reconnect the mouse (remove it in settings-bluetooth, turn off, on again and add it again)

Yes using the magic mouse :( which I really do actually like.

I've tried reseting the SMC which made no difference. I'm worried that there might be something wrong with my MBP and the warranty runs outs this month and i'm unable to afford apple care.
