As per title - MBP 2016 TB 13 inch: watching rented HD movie in iTunes, plugged into power, about 1.5 hours in, and press space bar or go to press "pause" with the mouse. No response from iTunes.

Result: Movie continues to play for about 1.5 minutes until iTunes "wakes up" and then pauses.

Tested on four different rented HD movies from iTunes Store.

Anyone else have this issue?

Not exactly the same but possibly related, I occasionally find that after streaming video for a while, my 2011 MBP may become sluggish, even unresponsive. Used to get to the point that it would keep playing the video unless I did a hard shutdown. Nothing that extreme after a clean install of Sierra, but still some unresponsiveness sometimes.

Even on my new MBP, I have once experienced a minor case of this, slowness to respond to commands until I restarted Safari (actually Safari Technology Preview), which I use to stream.

Ok cool - thanks, sounds like it could be a MacOS-related issue with lengthy playback if you were getting the same on 2011 MBP too.
