I'm a ICT-teacher at a school and we bought a couple of MBP's this autumn to the teachers, now some of them have been getting problems when using a USB-c to VGA adapter to connect them to our projectors. When they do the computer either just goes blank or restarts. For one of them the laptop kept on rebooting until we removed the adapter even.

Any one else had this problem, any tips on how to solve it?

I haven't been in the situation you describe but I can imagine three things to consider.

1.) Are these genuine Apple adapters (USB-C to VGA) or are they third party products? There may be some compatibility/quality issues.

2.) Have you check to make sure that the projectors have the latest firmware?

3.) What version of macOS are these MacBook Pros running?

Thanks for the reply!

1. No, it's this model https://www.markit.eu/uk/en/usbc-vga1/v2p11853959

2. There are Benq-MW705 and I can't find any new firmwares so I'm guessing they are updated

3. I'll get back on this, need to find the teachers first :D

I’d say try a different adapter first, probably an Apple one, even though they are more expensive, and see if that resolves your issue. The link you posted said the converters have a lifetime warranty so if the Apple VGA adapter works and the other one doesn’t then you should be able to get a replacement unit or a refund.
