MBP 2019: ambient light sensor gone ?

Since a few days the automatic brightness of my MacBook Pro 13” 2019 is misbehaving. The sensor reacts to light variations because the indicator is moving if I charge the ambient brightness, but the screen is always too dim or too much bright.
It was right until last week.
I tried every step like reset SMC but nothing changes.
I’m about to call Apple care, but do you know if it’s a known issue?

Not sure if it's a known issue, but my 16" has the screen issue after I wake the computer from sleep. Have to do a restart to get the sensor to work properly. Perhaps a software issue? I got my laptop on Tuesday the 14th. Other than that it works fine like it's supposed to.
