Started experiencing a weird issue all of a sudden. The left side ports on my 2019 Intel Macbook Pro 16" with Radeon 5300M no longer want to output video from the left side ports.

The right side ports with the exact same adapter work fine. USB devices like keyboard and mouse also work from the left side ports so they are not totally dead.

This started occurring after a restart and so far I've tried:
  • Removing any windowserver plists, display overrides and preference files.
  • Resetting SMC.
  • Resetting NVRAM.
  • Tried with another user account.
  • Shutting the computer down for a longer time.
  • Powered/unpowered.
  • Clamshell mode.
  • Tried two different monitors: 4K with DP and HDMI and 1080p with HDMI.
Same situation every time. Right side works like expected and I can tell the resets also work because display settings have to be reconfigured even for right side.

Has anyone seen this sort of issue?

Well, seems like now the right side ports on my MBP do not output video either. They will charge, USB devices work but video output is just dead with two separate adapters using USB-C to DP or USB-C to HDMI. Both adapters work fine from my PC's 2080 Ti USB-C port.

With HDMI I can see the laptop screen flash as if detecting a display but the external monitor remains blank.

It's as if somehow whatever display handlers this thing has just killed themselves but still work with the internal display.
