Hello,
I intend to dive into MacOS with a new MBP 2021, not decided yet if 14" or 16". It's for private use only, off my day job, thus evening and weekend only. Beside getting to know MacOS, same concrete use case is software development related, namely learning Swift/XCode, writing perhaps my first iOS App. My day job development stack is Java, NoSQL, thus perhaps also a bit of that on the new MBP, but nothing really big, smaller fun / Open-Source projects. Docker, perhaps one VM at the time. With all that perhaps some entry level config of either 14" or 16" with 16G/512GB. Thought about 32G, but to dive into the whole area, I thought 16G might be enough. The 14" entry level at 2249 EUR sounds tempting
(even thought about an M1 Air 16G/512G refurbished, but new and shiny is always more tempting).
My workspace size at home is rather limited, integrated into the living room, thus most of the time, the MBP would be connected to an external monitor. A Dell UP2516D@2560x1440. If 14" or 16" depends a bit on how the MBP works at that resolution. Can MacOS scale here properly, without blurry fonts or similar? If not, then I might go with the 16" and enjoy the bigger screen or still go with the 14" + a new monitor, which would also be for a Windows desktop machine, as I still need to maintain some developed Windows legacy applications.
I won't travel with the MBP, thus don't really care about the weight.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks!
