how old is a 5,5 MBP? it has 2x1gb sticks of ram for info. when would it have been made? 2009?

It was released on June 8, 2009 and discontinued on April 13, 2010. It has been manufactured between ~April 2009 and ~February 2010. To find the exact build week, look at you serial number, the third and fourth number indicate the week of built. E.g. W8914123123123
