Sorry for the dumb question but I've got a new MBP 15" on the same WiFi network as a iMac 27" 5K. They can both see each other however trying to share files between them results in screens that request passwords and addresses that I've never set up. I've tried every password and user name imageinable they will not see each other's Public directories. How do you get them to share files? Thank You!

You go to System Preferences>Users and Groups, that will tell you the correct "Username" for that computer under "Current User". So if you have two computers, A & B, you go to computer A and when in Finder you click on Computer B, you then fill in the Username and Password for Computer B and it should connect. You do the same on Computer B for Computer A. Simple, only took a few hours and chatting with Aplle support to figure it out.
