Bah - seems I am starting to see the dreaded "restart/ shutdown" on it's own
issue.
System details:
Macbook Pro 8,2- 15in i7 quad 2.4 - 8gigRAM - 750gb Samsung EVO SSD
Trim enabled.
AMD Radeon HD 6770M - Intel HD Graphics 3000
OSX 10.8.5
Bought July 2012 with apple care until July 2015.
It has ran really well for over a year or so, now perhaps twice a week it's
restarting on it's own OR having an issue on boot-up and showing me the grey
warning screen about Kernel Panics.
It's also just started showing me at startup that there is a folder in startup items
that does not have the right security settings ! = no idea what that is about.
The Samsung EVO is the latest edition, since early December and doesn't seem to
be the problem.
System tweaks :
Have a few terminal instructions set for better management of the SSD.
No "sleep" data it written to the drive constantly, list of "looked at files" is not
written, no Time Machine data written to the drive.
Home folder Library is unhidden.
I'm careful with my "sudo" commands and have kept it to a recommended minimum.
My 2 weekly "Permissions repair" on sunday took a good half hour, rather than the
usual 2 or 3 minutes .... signs of problems perhaps ??
Safari seems to be fond of quiting for no apparent reason?
Otherwise it boots in 9 seconds, operates really well, super fast and has been a super
system.
That's about it.
Martin.
