MBP acting odd

have a MBP the nov 2010 model.. running updated OSX lion.

never had a problem until the other day.. was browsing web and everything froze. got the beach ball.. ugh.. some how i got it to a blank dark screen and beach ball. took it to genus bar.. when i got there it was still blank screen and beach ball. the guy did the option P R on thing whatever it is.. it turned on and he ran some tests and it was all fine.. shrug

today i was doing mail and it froze again. this time tho i was able to power it off and then back and now ok...

whats the problem and how to fix? will it keep getting worse?

Did you ever replace your RAM?
It could of been a faulty RAM.
The option+P+R is resetting the PRAM.

today i was doing mail and it froze again. this time tho i was able to power it off and then back and now ok...

Launch Activity Monitor and change "My Processes" at the top to "All Processes", then click on the CPU column heading once or twice, so the arrow points downward (highest values on top). Then look to see what may be consuming system resources.

Also, launch Console.app to see if there are any log messages that might indicate what's causing the beachballs.
