MBP - Airport turned on & Ethernet cable plugged in

So I'm just wondering, if I have Airport turned On and a CAT5 ethernet cable plugged in, What does the computer default to the Wifi or the cable as its main connection to the internet?

I usually just turn off airport when i plug in a ethernet cable, but i was wondering if it at all matters? When i plug in the cable I usually download overnight so I want a more reliable connection that will not disconnect during the middle of the night.

see which one is at the top of the list when you plug the cat 5 cable in that will be your answer
