I had flash for safari on my 2010 mbp. I then got a message that it was outdated and needed to be updated. Every time I attempt to download it gets to 30% and stops. I've tried numerous times and then just gave up. What are your thoughts. I'm on the latest Yosemite. s this a common problem?

You should remove all browser plug-ins from the appropriate directories, then restart your Mac and download Google Chrome for Flash websites. You can use the "Click to play" option in Chrome:

Wife's Air and daughter`s 15" MBP just did this, fix is;

  1. Download Adobe Flash Player V17 update dmg
  2. Close Safari and any other browser
  3. Close Sytem Preferences
  4. Run Adobe update dmg

The update should now complete to 100%

For reason unknown although both systems are set to automatically update they failed and endlessly looped stalling at 25% - 30% Is likely to be an incompatibility down the line somewhere, on launching the update Adobe should request that Safari and System Preferences be closed to proceed in version 17 Adobe fails to do this and stalls.
