Hello

How much speed loss will there be if I use a Airport Extreme for connecting to the internet vs having a direct lan cable to the modem?

I will use the internet for downing loading of movies and music from iTunes, and playing online games such as WOW.
My connection is a VSDL with up to 100Mbps.

a good wireless connection is typically faster than most home internet connections. the only bottleneck you see is with file transfers within your network.

I have 2 networks, a 5ghz N with wide channels, and a B/G network. The 5ghz signal gets killed by walls, there are places in my house, that are closer to the N base, that get a faster signal off the B/G network. It can also be affected by the construction of your house.

So if you have an N base on the other side of the house, it could actually slow you down, but normally you'll be ok.

Even wireless G is faster than most connections. so you should be ok with that if you have range issues with the N.
