MBP and iPhone Bluetooth Issues

So I'm trying to pair my iPhone with my MBP via Bluetooth and I'm having some issues.

They have found each other and are paired but it won't connect. Anyone else having issues like this and do you know how to fix it?????

And I have bluetooth turned on for both devices and they are literally an inch from each other, so range shouldn't be an issue.

I'm having the same problem but cant get to the bottom of this? Can anyone help.
I've been trying to pair the pastebot app and get it to sync with my MBP, I presume it works trough bluetooth?

ps. Just found out they sync over wireless, nevertheless I'd like to better understand the difficulty in pairing the bluetooth if I can.
