MBP as monitor for Game Console

I am assuming this is still impossible, but I thought I'd ask. I have an early 2010 MBP (no Thunderbolt) with Firewire 800 / USB 2.0

Is there any way to get HD video input to show up on my screen? I understand it would take some kind of adapter.

I ask, because I'd like to use my macbook as a monitor at a gaming LAN this summer instead of buying a monitor.

you can get an hd pvr or something from elgato.

But it will be a miserable experience and you will regret every last second of it. The lag is unbearable.
