MBP as secondary monitor

Hey all,
I know that I can use my iMac as a secondary display from my Macbook Pro, my question is, is the opposite true? I'd like to use my MBP as a secondary display. Is that possible without third-party software?

Thanks!

Edit: Found answer after more Google searching. Apparently it can't be done without additional software.
