MBP SR 2.2GHZ 15IN

In the past week my MBP has started acting weird. It mostly happens while I am away from the computer. I return to hear a beeping noise. I quit all my apps one by one, but eventually I need to reboot. (( I have only noticed this noise before when I accidentally highlighted and tried to open too many files at once. As they continue to launch I would hear the beeping noise. ))

Today it happened again, with a new behaviour.. Mac Mail was continually scrolling through my mailbox list. Safari was scrolling down the page to the end of the page. When I dragged the bar up it would scroll back down to the end as soon as I released it.
And during this there is the beeping noise
Is my trackpad starting to act up?

added ram over a year ago
matching sticks

went from 2G

to 4G

Do you have your old sticks? If you do, try putting the old ones in and seeing if the same problem occurs.

IIRC, your RAM may be malfunctioning.....

yeah I do have my old sticks - somewhere in storage

thanks for the suggestion

now I wonder if it was something laying on the keys of my wireless keyboard - in the other room
