I have a Mid-2012 13" uMBP with a 2.4GHz Base one. I plug in the magsafe, and the next day when I unplug the magsafe it makes the sound from the optical drive as if it is waking up. And then the screen remains black unless I force shutdown. It does not even go back to sleep unless I open the lid and close it again (I left it closed when it happened before, and 2 hours later it was still running, with the fan maxed and the case was VERY hot). However, if I keep the magsafe plugged in and open the lid, it wakes up as if nothing happened. Also, it wakes up perfectly without the magsafe plugged in.

I read lots of similar issues on the forum before, and someone suggested to turn off the hibernation, so I did. Seems like this solved some issues early on, but it is still happening again. I have already tried PRAM/NVRAM reset, upgrading the RAM to 8GB, and changing the sleep settings (hard drive wake, sleep time, others). I even set the sleep timer to never but this still happens. Any ideas on why it is happening? Is it a hardware fault?
