My MBP started randomly shutting down when on battery power. If I take out the AC adapter, it'll run fine for a while before just turning off completely. No warning, nothing.

The only thing is that this isn't the first time it's happened. I had this syndrome way back when I first bought the computer, sent it in, and got it fixed. And now, the problem's resurfaced.

Any thoughts? My AppleCare expired - if I need to pay for a repair, how much do you think it will cost?

There is also an issue when charging - the indicator on the Magsafe goes back and forth between orange and green, and the charge indicator on the menubar goes back and forth between "Calculating" and showing a time.

Help!

You sure it's not the battery acting up?

Hmm...how would I be able to tell? I would think that if it's the battery, I would get some sort of warning before the shutdowns. The computer is only about a year old, so I don't think that the battery would be dying just yet.
