I was just wondering what is an average life expectancy of a MagSafe charger? My wife has a mid-2011 MBP 13" purchased 10 months ago, and we had to replace her 60W charger once a couple of months ago after it just died one day. I have an early-2011 that I've had for 16 months, got my 85W charger replaced once 6 months ago, and it just stopped working again.... Got extremely hot, then it just stopped charging. I'll have to see what I can do at the Apple Store, but since it's months out of warranty, I'll probably have to spend $80...

I guess it's a question and a rant, but I'm a bit frustrated right now...

I'm not happy with them either.

First one died after about 12 months. My second, which I can't find my box or anything for, died after about 7 months. I'm on my third. Ordered directly from Apple this time after worries reading reviews for cheaper ones on Amazon, I'm keeping the reviews and box. The second one appears to have some problem at the magnet end. I didn't think it worked at all, but if I held the cable just right, I could charge the computer. Which got me through the delivery of my replacement.

Most Apple chargers are quite good.
I still have my original charger from my 12in PBG4.

My 2006 MBP CD charger still works as well :)

I've never had a problem, still using one from my previous Alu MB on my MBP now - 5 years still working!

Well, I'm on charger #3, let's see what happens with that one... I just hope this one makes it until I'm "forced" to upgrade to 2nd generation Retina MBP.
