I've been reading the forum for a few years now and finally decided to join. Here is a problem I am having with my MBP.

My MBP is 3 years old and I'm having problems with it charging. I've already had the battery changed once and the power supply changed twice. The power supply intermittently charges the notebook, as I can see the light going on and off plus my screen brightness changing. Last night I notice the tip of the mag safe was extremely hot.

Anyone else have a problem like this? I'm afraid the problem is internal since I have changed the power supply and battery before.

Thanks for all your help.

Ah ha! I know what the problem is now. I just moved the computer and the magsafe fell off the cord. Guess I'll run in to town and get another power supply.

Does anyone know if you can buy just the Mag Safe tip? I would try to take the power supply into an Apple store to see if they will goodwill exchange it, but the closest one is 400 miles away.

No, you have to buy the whole adapter.
