While working in iPhoto I think Spotlight began to index my Backup Drive. My MBP became slow and eventually unresponsive. The mouse became choppy then disappeared and the process being done in iPhone froze up. Everything froze and nothing responded. I have never had anything happen like this before. What just happened? Low memory issue, some GUI error? A force restart, after waiting several minutes for something to click, brought everything back to normal.

it happens to the best of us. you'll be fine. If it continues to happen run your activity monitor and see if something looks fishy

ok, yah, I really didn't realize the indexing of a drive could slow everything up so much. A couple processes in Activity Monitor say: Not Responding. I'm not sure what this means. The audio played from iTunes is also choppy as the backup drive is being indexed.

if a process is not responding hit the red button and choose force quit
