Hi All,
I'm considering taking advantage of the plunging price of the MBP's on eBay to snag one for myself.

Firstly, I am not overly concerned about the difference in GPU cards, but only the processors.

Apple says 39%: But how much of difference in performance is there between Core Duo and C2D chips of comparable clock speed.... let's say 2.16 and 2.2 GHz in real world performance (eg. HD encoding, DVD Ripping, HD playback, and light gaming)? Once again, not taking GPU into account.

Secondly, the First Gen (2007) MBP only officially support 2GB RAM, but I've heard that they can run as much as 3GB. Is that right?

Thanks!

The Core 2 Duo is newer and better, if you plan to keep it a couple of years I would go for the newer Core 2 Duo.
