I have a mid-2010 15 inch MBP.
I noticed it slow down considerably when Mountain Lion was applied. Now it is crashing with increasing frequency.
I am also getting random "ghost" pointer movements. The pointer is randomly moving and selecting, zooming in and out, invoking the dictionary on randomly selected words, starting up launch pad or dashboard. As you can imaging this renders the MBP unusable while this is going on. I have had to use my bluetooth connected Apple mouse to control the pointer as the trackpad doesnt work.
It doesnt happen all the time and I cant see any pattern to what triggers it.
Any ideas out there? I can't believe the instability I'm getting on an Apple product.

Have you tried resetting the SMC yet?
